Technology in Engineering

Technology in Engineering

Technology puts the T in STEM!  We believe technology is most effective when used to support learning.  This is especially true during our engineering design units.  Here are some ways we use technology in engineering...

  • The Internet is used to research important social studies or science concepts prior to engineering design challenges.
  • Our 3D printer and 3D printing software allow students to design and print their solutions to design challenges.
  • Probeware (electronic microscopes, thermometers, speed gates, etc.) are used for data collection.
  • Students use science and math tools to measure and collect data.
  • Coding opportunities: Beebots, Ozobots, Dash/Dot Robots, Vex Go Robots, Blockly programs
  • When students create a product to solve a problem, they have created technology!
3D Printer
3D printing software allows students to design and print solutions to problems.
Light Investigation
3rd graders used light probes to measure the amount of light reflected off of different surfaces.
Solar Cells
Kennedy Space Center
Students use technology as astronauts at Kennedy Space Center!
Probeware
Electronic microscopes help students study the water from the Jamerson Waterway.
KNex Technology
Students use technology to perform investigations.
